ARTIST'S STATEMENT: I am curious about what motivates people and why they make the choices they do. Art has always been my primary creative outlet, so drawing and painting people seems particularly compelling to me and a good way to satisfy my curiosity about human nature.

Throughout my life I have learned about art and about the nature of people, friends, and loved ones. I wanted to paint them all but I could not always devote the time. Now I focus on creating images from life. These images are also the inspiration for my abstract paintings.

I draw with a stick and fluid acrylic paint, finishing the work by applying paint with my fingers and a bit of cloth. Mark making, design, and color, help me to delineate the beauty I see in ordinary people, to experience the spirituality inherent in the creative process, and to celebrate the joy of living.
